to all the weight-loss bloggers following me…
it’s flattering to be noticed, for sure. and i suppose it speaks to the growing popularity of paleo in general, that folks associate it with a “diet” and are looking for new ways to eat and live.

but when i click through to your blog and see your sad photos of low-fat meals, your obsessive calorie counting, the parade of despair in your posts about your “journey,” it makes me incredibly sad. i can picture very clearly hundreds of thousands of (mostly) women all alone in their bedrooms, fresh from a tedious hour on the elliptical machine, surveying their bodies in the mirror and vowing to “do better” tomorrow. then shuffling off to the kitchen for a meticulous little plate of processed carbs sprinkled with low-fat cheese or some other monstrosity they call food.
i hope you’ll forgive me for not following you back. i just can’t.
